The 35th International Geographical Congress (IGC2024) was held with great pomp in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, under the theme “Celebrating a World of Difference.” This prestigious gathering saw participation from over 2,600 experts and scholars from more than 100 countries, comprising various activities such as IGU General Assemblies, exhibitions, and field excursions.

On the noon of August 27, 2024, the IGU-AGLE Committee Meeting was successfully held in Dublin, Ireland. The meeting was chaired by Professor Yansui Liu, Chair of IGU-ALGE, and Executive leader and Vice-President of IGU Holly was invited to attend. This meeting was held both in person and online. Yansui Liu, Guy Robinson, Holly Barcus, and assistant Feng Weilun attended the meeting in person. Yuheng Li, Secretary General of IGU-AGLE, as well as newly elected members Alexey Naumov, Thi Phuoc Lai Nguyen, Natalia Dehtiar, Kumar Nitin, and Santos Daniel Chicas attended the meeting online.

Firstly, Chair Yansui Liu presented the IGU-AGLE work report (2016-2024) on behalf of the First Committee (see attachment), which systematically reviewed the significant progress and contributions made by IGU-AGLE over the past 8 years, and chaired the discussion on the IGU-AGLE re-election plan. Guy Robinson chaired a discussion on IGU-AGLE Future Work and Exchange. The meeting discussed and approved a new committee chaired by Guy Robinson. Yansui Liu, the founding chair and newly appointed honorary chair of IGU-AGLE, warmly congratulates Guy Robinson on his election as the new chair and all members of the new committee; Sincerely thank all the members who have made outstanding contributions to the IGU-AGLE since its establishment in 2016, and wish the new committee to lead IGU-AGLE towards innovative development and reach new heights.

The IGC session "Sustainable Land Use and Agricultural Development under Global Uncertainties" hosted by IGU-AGLE achieved complete success. On August 28th and 29th, the session was divided into four time slots, featuring 16 academic presentations from presenters across China, Sweden, Australia, India, Japan, Ireland, and other regions. Notably, on the morning of August 28th, IGU Vice President Fu Bojie attended the session, offering guidance and encouragement to the scholars present, and fostering rich academic exchanges.
